Blind Box fever fuels adult toy market
fever 的基本意是“发烧”,我发烧了就是 I have a fever. Game of Thrones fever is sweeping the world,
Obsession with social media fuels anxiety in teenages.
Adults are getting hooked on a toy called Blind Box.
Technology companies use psychological tricks to get you hooked on your phone.
You buy a small figurine, packed in an opaque box, without knowing what it is.
This blind box idea originated from Japan.
Each one only costs about 59 Yuan.
Your chance to get a rare figurine is only 1 in 144. The rare edition usually costs 40 times higher in the second-hand market than the original price.
Opinions
We exchanged our initial thoughts about this before the show, and Tony and I were on at the same camp.
We exchanged our initial thoughts.
Tony and I were on at the same camp. 我们是一个阵营的,可以替换we have same opinion.
They were surprised that many adults are buying this stuff. Maybe I am being biased. I can understand the comic books to some point, because people can get a lot of money from it by selling their books to other people. That's why I can see the merit in it.
?
People can get surprise feeling.
Crispy instant noodle with a little card in each bag
The threshold is very low.
My earnings are just above the income tax threshold.
According to 2019 Global Toy Market Report by US Toy Association, customers aged from 18-34 make up a half of the people in US who buy toys for themselves.
Youth has prolonged. Thirty is the new twenty. So it is socially acceptable to do some of the stuff that only kids used to do.
It has a little bit to do with the childhoods of different generations. If people were busy or didn't have money to buy when they were young, maybe they buy toys to make up for their childhood.
This business is very lucrative and sustainable because it gets people to pay for it all over their lifetime. When they were kids, they have limited pocket money. But this craze would would never fade away, so when they become adults, they have dispensible income to spend on the hobby from their childhood.
The craze would would never fade away.
The superpower rivarlry has fueled technological innovation.
